Brenta Dolomites

The Brenta Group is a mountain range located in Western Trentino. In the north, it borders on the Val di Sole; in the south on the Val Giudicarie; in the east on San Lorenzo, Molveno, and the Val di Non; in the west on the Val Rendena.

The whole Group is part of the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park. An application has been filed with UNESCO to designate it as a World Heritage Site.

The Brenta Group can be divided into three parts:
- The southern area (bordering on the Valli Giudicarie) is a treasure trove for nature lovers and is relatively secluded (except inthe vicinity of Cima Tosa).
- The central part (bordering on San Lorenzo, Molveno, Madonna di Campiglio, and the Val Rendena) is the best-known and most crowded area of the Group. It includes its highest and most famous peaks: Cima Brenta (3155m), Cima Tosa (3173 m), and Campanil Bass as well as several mountain refuges and the most famous fixed-rope route of the whole range: the ‘Bocchette’.
- The northern area (bordering on the Val di Non) is the wildest and remotest of the three. The hikes to the mountain refuges are longer and the access paths are more difficult.
