Hiking and Nordic Walking

Molveno is a door open onto the wonderful landscapes of the Brenta Dolomites and on walking trails of various difficulty levels, ideal for all levels of expertise. Among the excursions suited for everyone is the walk around the lake and the walk up to the Ciclamino mountain refuge. These itineraries are perfect for Nordic walking beginners. Unlike normal hiking, Nordic walking utilizes the characteristic walking sticks that put in motion all of the body’s muscles, unloading most of the body’s weight on the upper part. This requires learning a more harmonious method of walking.

Mountain Biking

Molveno and the surrounding territory offer many cycling paths of varying degrees of difficulty, pleasantly leading cyclists to the discovery of the Adamello Brenta Park. For more info, download the brochure of mountain bike itineraries. For more expert bikers, Molveno is part of a famous biking circuit called “Dolomiti di Brenta Bike”.

Rock climbing

Molveno has three rock climbing gyms.

The largest is located in a hamlet called Ischia. It boasts 50 climbing routes that escalate from a 3rd degree difficulty level to an 8th. It is reached starting from the town centre or from the lake. From the lake: follow the road that leads to the sports fields and then walk up towards the Ciclamino mountain refuge. A short while after beginning of the ascent you will see a sign indicating the rock climbing gym that is about 5 minutes away. From the town centre: walk towards the Ciclamino refuge and descend towards the lake along the San Antonio path.

The second rock climbing gym is located near the Croz dell’Altissimo mountain refuge, the third (artificial) is located in the town centre.

Hang gliding

Hang gliders will find that flying over Molveno and among the Brenta Dolomites is especially breathtaking. The natural beauty of the scenery is perhaps the reason why this is the birth place of the European hang gliding champion.

There are two take-off points: in Deft (reached from Via Belvedere) and near the Montanara mountain refuge.

The official landing point is near the lake, in the “Pozze” district, but the area also offers large pastures, a beach and a soccer field that can be used for emergency landings should you be unable to reach Pozze. For more information, visit www.volabass.it

Sports centres

Molveno has two pools, one of which of Olympic size, a few tennis courts, a soccer field, bowls alleys and a miniature golf circuit. On the Pradel plateau, reached via cable car, there is also a “forest park” adventure camp.

Water sports

The lake offers swimming, surfing and canoeing opportunities. Angling is also allowed.
