Lake Molveno
Lake Molveno, formed approximately 3,000 years ago by a landslide, is one of the largest natural alpine lakes in Trentino. The surrounding frame of magnificent Dolomite peaks gives the lake a truly unique charm; for this reason, the poet Fogazzaro described it as a “precious pearl in an even more precious casket.”
The lake is ideal for all types of sporting activities, as well as for relaxing in the sun on the expansive green lawns of the Molveno beach. Confirming Molveno’s environmental excellence, the lake has earned the prestigious “5 Sails” award from Legambiente. This award recognizes the area’s exceptional natural beauty, combined with a commitment to preserving the landscape and shoreline, and various initiatives to improve services while protecting the environment. For four consecutive years, Lake Molveno has been named the “Most Beautiful Lake in Italy” by Legambiente.
Fishing is also permitted in the lake. The Arctic char is the most prized fish found in Molveno, and the Park has established a dedicated fish breeding center for the species.
Adjacent to Lake Molveno lies the small Lake Bior, which collects water from the Lambin stream flowing from Andalo and is directly connected to Lake Molveno.
